Scientific Conference held on June, the 19th, 2014 on “Mediation and Extrajudicial Dispute Resolution” on the occasion of the publication of the Law Book written by Mr. Spyros Antonelos and Mrs. Eleni Plessa on Mediation
On Thursday, June 19th, 2014, on the occasion of the publication of the Law Book written by Attorneys-at-Law – Accredited Mediators and Accredited Mediators Trainers, Mr. Spyros Antonelos and Mrs. Eleni Plessa, titled “Mediation in Civil and Commercial Cases – International Experience and Greek Implementation” (ISBN: 978-960-568-096-1) published by Sakkoulas S.A. Law Editors, a conference on “Mediation and Extrajudicial Dispute Resolution” was successfully held in the “Antonis Tritsis” Lecture Hall, of Cultural Center of the Municipality of Athens.
The conference was co-organized by the Greek Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights (www.ministryofjustice.gr), “Sakkoulas SA” Law Editors (www.sakkoulas.gr) and our Mediators company “RESOLVE” (www.resolve.gr). It was moderated by the Secretary General of the Greek Ministry of Justice Transparency and Human Rights Mr. Nikolas Kanellopoulos.
Prominent members of the Legal Community (both Lawyers and members of the Judiciary), the Business Community and other friends of Mediation, graced the conference with their presence.
After introductory greetings and credits delivered by the authors Mr. Spyros Antonelos and Mrs. Eleni Plesssa, took place a presentation made by Mr. Charalambos Macheras Greek High Judge, Mediator and President of the Greek Ministry of Justice, Transparency and Human Rights Examinations Committee for the Accreditation of Mediators on the “Role of Attorneys in Mediation”.
Then, Mr. Fotis Kotsis, Attorney-at-Law, Member of the Athens Bar Association Board and President of “Athens Bar Mediators Training Center – PROMETHEUS” (www.akked.gr), spoke about the “Training of Mediators”.
Mrs. Amanda Bucklow’s Accredited Mediator and Head Trainer of Mediators of the British educational company “Facilit8” and “Athens Bar Mediators Training Center – PROMETHEUS”, spoke on: “Mediation is a solution. Then which is the problem? “
Last speaker, Mrs. Danae Bezantakou, internationally distinguished Entrepreneur in the Maritime industry as well as in Tourism, President of “IforU”, a Greek Mentoring Network which empowers women entrepreneurs, who analyzed how Mediation can benefit Entrepreneurship.
Following the presentations, a reception was held at the Athens Municipality Cultural Centre, where everyone had the chance to exchange opinions on the growth of Mediation in Greece.
